Call Optum Rx toll-free at 1-855-828-9834 (TTY: 711). How long does it take for a PA to be approved or denied? Once your PA has been submitted and received, it usually takes 48 to 72 hours to process. If your PA request needs additional review, it may take longer.

How does OptumRx work with Walgreens?

Your pharmacy benefit covers only a limited number of 30-day refills of a maintenance medication. After the allowed refills, you must choose to fill your prescription from OptumRx home delivery or Walgreens pharmacy, or pay a higher cost share. You may pay less for your maintenance medication with a 90-day supply.

What are the changes in OptumRx 2023?

OptumRx has made a number of utilization management changes requiring prior authorization or step therapy and putting quantity limits on its formularies effective Jan. 1, 2023. (See table below.) The PBM now requires prior authorization for 16 products, including 11 that are used to treat patients with diabetes.
