Central Authentication Service (CAS) is the most common centralized web authentication Single Sign On (SSO) protocol for intra-organization authentication.
What is the service that offers a central authentication point for wireless, mobile, and remote users called? RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service)
The CAS protocol and authorization flow looks like this: A user attempts to access a web application that is not already verified. The user is redirected to the CAS server. The user then inputs their login credentials one time on the CAS server, and the CAS server determines if the user is authentic.
Central Authentication Service (CAS) is a single sign-on protocol designed to allow potentially untrusted web applications to authenticate users against a trusted central server. Applications that authenticate with CAS never see the users credentials, since the authentication happens only on the CAS server.
Steps for CAS: The web application redirects the user to the CAS server login. Once the login process is completed , CAS server in turn takes the user to the web application with a security ticket. Now the web application sends a request to the CAS server for validating service ticket.
