Student must be enrolled full-time on the Howard College campus majoring in an academic degree plan and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Scholarships of various amounts are available through individual arts departments to aid student interested in majoring in art, music, or theater.
HOWARD UNIVERSITY FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIPS (HUFS) No internal application is needed. Eligibility for merit-based awards is determined based on students SAT/ACT scores/high school GPAs that are entered into our system by the Office of Admissions. Allocations for HUFS Transfer scholarships may change every year as well.
You may appeal a financial aid suspension status by submitting a completed appeal packet to the Office of Financial Aid within 14 calendar days from the date of your notification.

Opportunities for Howard Students Scholars selected for the program are awarded a scholarship for tuition, mandatory fees, room, board and an allowance for books associated with attending the University and are required to ultimately pursue, a PhD, or a combined MD-PhD, within a STEM discipline.
The Howard University Freshman Scholarship (HUFS) is available to incoming freshman. There are 7 different HUFS awards (Presidential, Achievers, Founders, Capstone, Leadership, Opportunity, and the Access Grant) however, a student can only qualify for one of them based on high school academic performance.
To be considered for a merit based scholarship, students must have a minimum 3.30 (unweighted) cumulative grade point average. A minimum 1000 SAT (EBR M), or an ACT Composite score of 22 is also required. Students who apply using the Test Optional Policy are NOT eligible for merit based scholarships.
