This grant is non-need based. Students who apply do NOT need to pay VTAG back, demonstrate financial need, or file a financial statement or application. Stated aid amounts are subject to change depending on any changes in budget.
The VTAG is designed to assist Virginia residents who attend accredited private, non-profit colleges and universities in Virginia. This grant is therefore only available to students attending GW Virginia based programs (VSTC, Arlington and Alexandria).
2023-2024 Award Amounts: Residential Undergraduate: $5,000. Online Undergraduate: $2,500.
The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG), funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, provides grant assistance to degree-seeking undergraduate students who are Virginia residents and who enroll full-time during the regular academic year. Full-time status requires at least 3.5 units per term for undergraduate students.

The Commonwealth of Virginia provides this grant to qualified legal residents of Virginia who are enrolled in 1-8 credits and it cannot exceed the tuition and fee charge for your total number of credits.
Students must complete a FAFSA at .fafsa.ed.gov to apply. If a student is attending a private institution, the student must also file a Tuition Assistance Grant Application or complete a domiciliary status form. To be eligible, you must be a resident of Virginia and enrolled in a Virginia institution.
