Setting a science-based target is a five-step process: Register online and submit the commitment letter. Signing this commitment letter indicates that your organization will work to set a science-based. Develop a target. Submit your target for official validation. Announce the target. Disclose your progress.
Key commitments required for a science-based target: Targets must cover company-wide scope 1 and scope 2 emissions. A scope 3 target is required if scope 3 emissions are 40% or more of total scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Targets must cover a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 15 years.
