A 504 plan provides accommodations so a student can learn in a regular classroom. An IEP is a plan for specialized learning (for example, for dyslexia) or special education. 504 plans dont usually change what the child learns but IEPs can.

A meeting with the school districts 504 Coordinator will be scheduled and teachers, parents, and even the student if appropriate will attend the meeting and write the 504 Plan collaboratively.
