What is a CG 20 15? Vendors Endorsement. The General Liability endorsement entitled Additional Insured-Vendors (CG2015) is commonly referred to as a vendors endorsement. The purpose of a vendors endorsement is to provide Products Liability to vendors who sell or distribute your product.
There is also a risk of being under-insured or uninsured as additional insureds. Second, there is the risk of breaching a contract, thus potentially becoming the insurer of the other party when they are the party obligated to provide additional insured coverage.
An additional insured is a party covered under a vendors CGL or PLI policy because they have a business relationship with the vendor that makes them vulnerable to being sued for the vendors acts under contract.
As important as stipulating the amount of liability insurance to carry is the requirement that the lender be named as an additional insured on the borrowers policy.
Defense Coverage: The main reason shippers want to be named as additional insured is for defense coverage. If a legal issue arises (like a lawsuit), they want to be assured that the freight brokers insurance will cover their legal defense.
