Indiana Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) must complete the required six (6) hours of annual in-service training to renew QMA certification each year. Only in-services related to medication, medication administration, QMA Scope of Practice and administration apply.
Qualified Medication Aides (QMAs) are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) that have completed an additional 100 hours of extra training in pharmacology and medication knowledge, passed a written exam to become licensed and demonstrated competency while dispensing and passing medications and or applying/administrating
CNA programs last from 6 to 12 weeks, and you can find these programs at community colleges and medical facilities. Certification as a medication aide requires around four months of training and 140 hours of clinical practice after applicants earn their CNA education.
