The Qualified Medication Aide Certification Program ensures that individuals meet the requirements for a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) and are on the Indiana Nurse Aide Registry. This program is administered by the Indiana State Department of Health, Division of Healthcare Education and Quality.
There is no fee to renew a QMA certification. Individuals renew their aide certification and registration through the Online Licensing System. You must register and/or login to your Access Indiana account and then link your certificate and/or registration in mylicense.in.gov/eGov/ML1PLA.html.
CMA certification takes about four months to complete. Candidates need to demonstrate at least 140 hours of clinical practice during their training period as part of the requirements.In most states, CMA candidates have to pass an examination to get their Certified Medication Aide (CMA) license.
Complete the Certified Nurse Aide 105-hour program, successfully pass the CNA written and skills exam, and be placed on the Indiana Aides Registry. Work 1,000 hours as a Certified Nurse Aide within the previous 24 months. Complete the 100-hour QMA course and successfully pass the QMA written competency evaluation test.
