Eligibility. Homeowners and tenants who paid property taxes on their principal residence in New Jersey either directly or through rent during the year.
In order to claim the credit, Form NJ-2450, Employees Claim for Credit for Excess UI/WF/SWF (Unemployment Insurance/Workforce Development Partnership Fund/Supplemental Workforce Fund), Disability Insurance, and/or Family Leave Insurance Contributions must be enclosed with the NJ-1040 return.
Land enrolled under the Managed Forest Law (MFL) may be voluntarily withdrawn at any time. To withdraw land from the MFL program, the landowner must submit a withdrawal form (link below). A withdrawal tax plus a $300 withdrawal fee will be assessed. The type of order determines the way the withdrawal tax is calculated.
If you are not domiciled in New Jersey, but received income from sources within New Jersey, you may need to file a nonresident tax return.
To qualify for this gain exclusion, the home must have been ones primary residence for at least two of the last five years. The total consideration for the property is $1,000 or less. The deed is dated prior to August 1, 2004 and has not been previously recorded.
