You will be charged prorated rent for the remaining days left in the semester, plus a $1,500 cancellation fee. First-year students/freshmen will not be allowed to buy-out/cancel their contracts.
A $800 confirmation payment must be made at the time you confirm your contract.
Request for release from a current contract must be done on the appropriate form available at the USC Housing central office. Contract cancellations are granted to students who meet the qualification and deadlines specific to the term of the contract.
The $800 confirmation fee only applies to contracts for the whole academic year. I have a summer housing contract; do I need to pay the full $800? No, summer housing contracts only require a $400 confirmation fee.
If, after you have confirmed your contract, you later decide to cancel your assignment, you may request to do so by submitting a completed cancellation request form. If your cancellation is granted by June 9, 2023 you will receive a full refund of the contract-confirmation payment.

Once you submit your summer application you are responsible for full summer rent of $2,622. Cancellations, prior to move in date, can be submitted by sending an email to housing@sc.edu or by calling University Housing at 803-777-4283.
You may submit your $800 confirmation payment electronically by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card. Half of this fee ($400) will be credited back to your fall semester rent and the remainder toward your spring semester rent. To confirm your assignment, first read through the Living Agreement.
