Certified Mail is a USPS service providing the sender with an official receipt showing proof that an item was mailed. A Return Receipt may also be purchased, providing the sender with verification of delivery via email or postcard.
Track and Confirm If more than seven business mailing days have passed and you still dont have a proof-of-delivery receipt, go to the Track and Confirm page on the USPS website. On this page, you can enter the label ID number. This should bring up details as to where your package is located.
The base fee for Certified Mail is currently $4.85. If you add a Return Receipt (Green Card), it costs an additional $4.10 for a mailed receipt or $2.62 for an electronic receipt.
Most of the time you wont be able to see who sent it until you sign for it either. USPS rules require senders of Certified Mail to put their return addresses on the envelope, though. So you may be able to see who sent it before you actually sign for it.
Your Certified Mail Labels account will automatically display the DELIVERED stamp with the date and time stamp authored officially by the United States Postal Service as legal proof or evidence your Certified Mail item was delivered. This record is securely stored online for 10 years from the date of mailing.
