The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (American Rescue Plan), enacted in early March 2021, provided Economic Impact Payments of up to $1,400 for eligible individuals or $2,800 for married couples filing jointly, plus $1,400 for each qualifying dependent, including adult dependents.
Stimulus checks are not considered taxable income and will not affect your tax obligations. Eligibility for stimulus checks is based on income levels, with adjustments depending on the specific round of payments.
You ARE eligible for the second round of Economic Impact Payments if you are: An individual with an adjusted gross income up to $75,000; A head of household with an adjusted gross income up to $112,500; or A married couple with an adjusted gross income up to $150,000.
The IRS has issued all first, second and third Economic Impact Payments. You can no longer use the Get My Payment application to check your payment status. Most eligible people already received their Economic Impact Payments.
The stimulus payments are not taxable on the Federal return and are not reported as income. However, you can claim a tax credit if you did not receive the payment. If you did not receive the third stimulus payment, you need to report the information on your 2021 return to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.
