Cognitive levels were identified based on the BCAT score ranges: normal = 44-50, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) = 34-43, mild dementia = 25-33, and moderate-severe demen- tia = 0-24 (MacDougall, Mansbach, Mace, Clark, 2015; Mansbach, Mace, Clark, 2014b).
The Brief Cognitive Assessment Tool (BCAT) is a new screening measure for cognitive dysfunction that emphasizes contextual memory and executive control functions.
The BCAT Test System is comprised of six unique assessment instruments. The primary and foundational test is the Brief Cognitive Assessment Tool (BCAT), which is multifactorial.
The total score indicates your general cognitive level of functioning. This score will provide an indication of where your general cognitive functioning is in terms of a continuum between normal and dementia. The BCAT will indicate a specific stage of cognitive functioning.
The BCAT consists of 21 items. Scores range from 0 to 50. Item-level scores are determined by correct responses. Produces a total score to assess global cognitive functioning, Contextual Memory Factor (CMF) , and Executive Control Functions Factor (ECFF).
