Employers use Form 941 to: Report income taxes, Social Security tax, or Medicare tax withheld from employees paychecks. Pay the employers portion of Social Security or Medicare tax.
Employers must file Form IL-941 to report Illinois income tax withheld each calendar quarter. This form applies only to Illinois income tax withholding and is due by the last day of the month following the calendar quarter.
Illinois has a flat income tax rate of 4.95%, meaning all residents pay the same amount regardless of their income levels. Illinois also requires nonresidents who work in Illinois to pay state income tax unless they live in a reciprocating state (see below).
You can claim exemption from withholding only if both the following situations apply: For the prior year, you had a right to a refund of all federal income tax withheld because you had no tax liability.
