Begin with Line 2a, where you will enter the amount of federal investment credit that is not attributable to Alaska property. Ensure you understand the limitations set by AS 43.20.036(b).
For Line 2b, remember that Alaska does not allow certain credits such as backup withholding and employer social security credits. Make sure to review these exclusions carefully.
Proceed to Line 4, where you will need to reference Form 6395 for calculating general business credits from passive activities. Enter the amount from Form 6395, line 17.
On Line 9, document any unused federal-based credits that can be carried forward. Attach a detailed schedule showing these credits based on prior years’ Forms 6390.
For Line 10, if applicable, indicate any unused federal-based credits eligible for carryback and attach a supporting schedule.
Complete Lines 21 and Lines 26a–27 by referencing Form 6395 for specified credits and ensuring all schedules are attached as required.
