A genuine redundancy payment is a payment made to you as an employee if your job is abolished and you no longer have a job. This means your employer has made a decision that your job no longer exists, and your employment is to be terminated. Redundancy payments are a type of employment termination payment (ETP).
The statutory redundancy notice periods are: at least one weeks notice if employed between one month and 2 years. one weeks notice for each year if employed between 2 and 12 years. 12 weeks notice if employed for 12 years or more.
Between 13 weeks and two years: One week of notice. Between two and five years: Two weeks of notice. Between five and 10 years: Four weeks of notice. Between 10 and 15 years: Six weeks of notice.

An eligible employee is entitled to two weeks normal weekly remuneration for every year of service, plus a bonus week. The redundancy lump sum calculation is based on the workers length of reckonable service and weekly remuneration, which is subject to a ceiling of 600 per week.
