For Transfer to CSU and UC For certain majors at some of the UC campuses it may be more advantageous to complete a campus-specific general education pattern. IGETC certification is valid for community college transfer students only.

Is IGETC only for UC and CSU?

The IGETC is NOT an admission requirement to the UC or CSU system. There is no connection between completion of the IGETC and eligibility for admission to the UC or CSU system, or admission to a specific campus or program.

Its not a requirement for UCLA, but is strongly recommended for students applying to all schools but the Samueli School of Engineering. Students can use the summer prior to transferring to finish remaining courses for IGETC, but these courses cant be used to meet transfer admission requirements.
