In Column A, specify the tax period for which you are reporting. This is crucial for accurate calculations.
For each jurisdiction listed in Column B, input the total miles driven in that area in Column C.
Calculate your total taxable miles for each jurisdiction and enter these figures in Column D.
Next, determine your taxable gallons by dividing the total taxable miles (Column C) by the Average Miles per Gallon (AMG) and record this in Column E.
Input the total gallons purchased in each jurisdiction into Column F.
Calculate net taxable gallons by subtracting Column E from Column D and enter this result in Column G.
Apply the tax rate from Column H to calculate tax due/credit, then add any interest from Column I to find your total due/credit in Column J.
