The Utility Users Tax (UUT) is a small local tax applied to utility services such as electricity, gas, water, sewer, cable, and telephone (landline and mobile). It is collected monthly on utility bills and must be approved by local voters.
These can include, but are not limited to, electricity, gas, water, internet, and phone services. The cost of these services can often be written off, or deducted, from a self-employed individuals taxable income, thereby reducing their overall tax liability.
The County levies a consumer tax on electricity, natural gas, and telephone utilities. These taxes are collected by the utility company and remitted to the County.
Utility Users Tax Due: The Utility Users Tax rate is 7.5%.
The Utility Tax is $24/month for most ratepayers. Everyone will have to pay the Tax, no matter how little energy you use. The $24/month Tax is twice the national average, and it is uncapped.
