To renew an exemption, you must submit a new exemption application online through your MassTaxConnect account. You may begin this process during the quarter prior to the expiration of your current exemption. (i.e., If your exemption expiration date is September 30, you can begin the renewal process starting July 1).
There is no filing needed. All nonprofit organizations must confirm that they will receive a renewal certificate by contacting the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Note that one month before the expiration date of the Form ST-2, the Department of Revenue may issue a new exemption certificate (every 10 years).
To fill out the resale certificate: Download Form ST-4, the Massachusetts resale certificate. Enter your business name and address. Fill out a description of your business. Enter your Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) Describe the items being purchased. Include the name and address of the seller.
