Every year, National PTA hosts our annual Reflections Theme Search Contest to select one student theme to inspire student artists as they participate in a future PTA Reflections program. The national winning student will receive a $100 award and national recognition. Themes are selected two years in advance.
For the 2024-2025 school year, the theme is Accepting Imperfection, a concept created by Paige Opaska from San Antonio, Texas who won the 2022 Reflections Theme Search Contest.
All PTA Reflections entries are judged on three criteria: Interpretation of Theme (40 points), Creativity (30 points), and Technique (30 points).
Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade: Primary (Pre-K - Grade 2), Intermediate (Grades 3-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-12), Accessible Arts (All grades welcome).
The artist statement communicates what inspired the work, how it relates to the theme, and the content of the work. The statement must include at least 10 words and not exceed 100 words. Use of copyrighted material is prohibited, except for background music in dance choreography and film production entries.
