Yes, you can file your M1PR when you prepare your Minnesota taxes in TurboTax. Well make sure you qualify, calculate your Minnesota property tax refund, and fill out an M1PR form. The M1PR can be mailed or e-filed (if qualified).
Contact your lender to find out when they submit your property tax payments (frequently this is done twice a year, but it varies among jurisdictions). That said, you should still enter your property taxes in TurboTax. Include property taxes paid at closing as well as the annual property tax paid to your assessor.
There are two types of property tax refunds in Minnesota. One is income based and you may apply for this if your household income is less than $128,280; you owned and occupied a home in Minnesota; are filing a refund for 2021 or later; did not rent out your home; and did not use your home for business.
Due Date. Form M1PR should be filed by August 15, 2025. The final deadline to claim a 2024 refund is August 15, 2026. See the Minnesota Property Tax Refund Instructions for additional information.
