Note: After April 15, 2020, you shouldnt use this cmdlet to manually move mailboxes within an Exchange Online organization.
You use mailbox moves to move mailboxes to, from, and within your Exchange organization. These are the basic types of mailbox moves that are available: Local mailbox moves: You move mailboxes from one mailbox database to another on Exchange servers within a single Active Directory forest.
Move requests are created to ensure that inventory is moved from one to location to another, within a warehouse, in an automated manner. These are not representative of transfers between warehouses, which are actual shipments.
A remote move migration moves mail from an on-premises Exchange Server (2010 or higher) to Exchange Online.
Use the Get-MoveRequest cmdlet to view the detailed status of an ongoing asynchronous mailbox move that was initiated by using the New-MoveRequest cmdlet. For information about the parameter sets in the Syntax section below, see Exchange cmdlet syntax.
