Instead of failing suddenly, they gradually deteriorate over time. As they deteriorate, the amount of light they give decreases and they get harder to start at turn-on. Eventually, they will either get noticeably dim, start flickering or not light at all when powered ON.
FATIGUE TEST FOR LED LIGHTING The fatigue test assesses the durability and functionality of these components by operating them multiple times and checking for any malfunctions or failures. This test ensures the LED light can withstand prolonged use without compromising performance.
Photometric testing measures various characteristics of the LEDs light output, including luminous intensity, light distribution, color temperature and color rendering index (CRI), and, by periodically testing these parameters, any changes or degradation in the LEDs performance can be detected.
Measuring the Output Current of your LED Driver First, set your multimeter to measure the current. Instead of just touching the LED with the probes, connect the multimeter so the power flows through it. This lets you see how much power is actually going through.
The easiest way to quickly test loose LEDs is to get a 9v battery and a small 1k (1000 ohm) resistor. Wedge or tape one end of the resistor onto one terminal of the 9v battery, then take your LED and touch one lead to the battery terminal and the other to the free end of the resistor the LED should light.
