How do I become a certified pesticide applicator in Tennessee? Step 1 You must be at least 18 years of age. Step 2 Complete the Application for Commercial Pesticide Exam with the $150 fee. Step 3 Pass a certification exam. Step 4 Complete $25 state exam and at least one category exam.
There are approximately one million pesticide applicators in the United States certified to use RUPs and an estimate of 930,000 noncertified applicators.
Noncommercial Applicator. A person who applies restricted-use pesticides on lands or property owned, rented, leased, or controlled by the applicator or applicators employer. Meets the same certification requirements as commercial and public applicators.
Wear protective clothing and equipment as required. Have soap, water and towels nearby. Open containers carefully on a stable surface where they will not tip or spill easily. Open, pour and mix pesticides in a well-ventilated area, free from obstructions and where bystanders cannot be contaminated.
An invoice containing the required information may constitute the record. (c) The record must be completed no later than five days after the application of the pesticide. (d) Records must be retained for five years after the date of treatment.
