Total Tenant Payment (TTP) is the minimum family contribution to the gross rent and is calculated as the greater of: 1) 30 percent of monthly adjusted income; 2) 10 percent of monthly income; 3) the welfare rent (in as-paid states only); or 4) the PHA minimum rent.
What is Adjusted Income? 30% of Gross Rent. If this is a move-in or initial certification, the family is only eligible if their total tenant payment is less than 90% of Gross Rent. HUD assisted residents are required to report all income from all sources to the Owner or Agent (OA).
HOTMA restricts families from receiving assistance in the public housing or housing choice voucher program if their net family assets exceed $100,000* or if the family owns real property suitable for the family to live in. There are qualifications and exemptions from both requirements.
