Duration recording documents how long a student engages in a specified behavior. This type of data collection is appropriate for behaviors that have a distinct beginning and ending or for those that occur at very high rates (e.g., tantrumming, being out of seat, not completing a task).
Duration of a concert is a quantitative variable. Its values are numerical.
A behavior that has a clear beginning and ending can be observed using a duration recording method. Examples of behaviors that may be observed using duration recording include crying, reading a book, writing in class, time spent working on a math assignment, or out of seat behavior.
The xs:duration data type represents a duration of time that is expressed by the Gregorian year, month, day, hour, minute, and second components.
Record the time the behavior begins and ends. Sum the total amount of time the behavior occurred and record under duration. To calculate Average Duration for a day, sum the duration of all episodes of the behavior (minutes). Divide the sum of duration by the total number of episodes for the day.
