K-5 All Subjects; K-8 All Subjects Self-Contained Classrooms (ZG)endorsements are valid for teaching all subjects in grades K-5. Holders of these endorsements may be assigned to teach all subjects in self-contained classroom settings up through and including grade 8.
There must be at least 2 classroom observations of a teacher in each school year that the teacher is evaluated. One observation may be unscheduled. A classroom observation must not be less than 15 minutes but does not have to be for an entire class period.
To be employed in Michigan as a teacher, you must be at least 18 years of age, have a bachelors degree and a valid teaching certificate. All educators must complete the steps listed below as well as uphold standards of professional practice.
The General Elementary (ZG) endorsement is available for secondary-level certified teachers who wish to become certified to teach all-subjects in grades Kindergarten-5, and all subjects in grades Kindergarten-8, in a self-contained classroom.
The Language Arts (BX) endorsement is a group endorsement, covering English language and literature study, journalism, speech, reading and some communication arts concepts appropriate to grades K-8.
