Following the Park as the best place to live in Wayne County was Northville, then Grosse Pointe Farms, rounding out the top three of 207 cities. The City of Grosse Pointe came in fifth, with Grosse Pointe Woods sixth and the Shores eighth, making all five Pointes among the top 10 places to live in the county.
Grosse Pointe is an eastern suburb of Metro Detroit along Lake St. Clair. It is located along East Jefferson Avenue and shares a small northwestern border with the city of Detroit. It is one of five cities within the Grosse Pointe area.

Until 1907 the Village of Fairview had included all that part of Grosse Pointe Township between Bewick Avenue, near the waterworks and Cadieux Road. In 1907, all the lower part of Fairview was annexed to Detroit which necessitated the organization of Grosse Pointe Park.
