The NSS asks a number of questions relating to the following aspects of your learning experience: teaching on your course. learning opportunities. marking and assessment. academic support. organisation and management. learning resources. student voice. mental health and wellbeing services.
The survey runs from January to April and is aimed mainly at final year undergraduates. Every university in the UK takes part and response rates are consistently high. Ipsos run the survey and they contact all students who are eligible to take part by email or phone.
Here are some essential questions to ask students. Which activities in the classroom do you enjoy the most? Given a chance, what is one change that you would like to see? Do you have supportive classmates? What motivates you to learn more? Do you think that the school provides you with adequate sports facilities?
The NSS questions only takes about ten minutes to complete. Your university or college may choose to include some optional questions in addition to the NSS questions, but you do not have to respond to these if you prefer not to.
Surveys are a valuable tool for students to provide feedback on their educational experience, for conducting research and for the University to collect information for quality assurance and strategic management purposes.

What is the NSS? The NSS is a nationally recognised, independent survey which gives final year undergraduates the opportunity to have their say about their university experience and in turn, make lasting changes. This is your chance to take part, and it only takes 10 minutes of your time!
Participation in the NSS is voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you can simply opt out of the survey. At any stage that Ipsos contacts you directly (between 8 January 30 April), you can state that you do not wish to take part and you will not be contacted again by Ipsos.
We suggest inquiring about student interest in a variety of areas. What is your favorite class or activity in school and why? What is your least favorite class or activity in school and why? Which school subject is most challenging to you?
