Certified copies of Birth records can be obtained in any County Clerk Recorder or Registrars office in Montana from the birth years 1920 and later via mail or in-person.
While a notary can notarize certified copies of documents we are prohibited to do so for birth, marriage, death certificates and federal documents. Only the vital statistics dept for your birth county and state can give you copies.
All certificates cost $16. This includes birth and death certificates, certified and informational copies, and abstract and long form versions.
If you are unable to personally go to the courthouse, fill out the Birth Certificate Request Form . Return the form to the Clerk and Recorders office along with a photocopy of your state issued identification and a check for $8.00 per certified copy requested.
