Do you need a mentor for CPA?

Its optional to work with a mentor, but we encourage all our Associate members to have one so that you have guidance and support throughout your CPA Program.

What does a CPA mentor do?

CPA Mentors play a critical role in modeling and upholding the professional and ethical standards expected of CPAs. Your mentee is required to meet with you at least semi-annually to discuss their progress toward satisfying the CPA PER, with an emphasis on the development of the enabling competencies.

What does a mentorship program do?

A mentoring program is a structured initiative designed to pair experienced individuals with less experienced ones to provide guidance, support and knowledge transfer.

What is the CPA mentorship program?

Mentorship is a mandatory component of the CPA practical experience requirements. Future CPAs must have an approved CPA mentor before they can begin their qualifying term. Becoming a CPA mentor offers you the opportunity to make a difference in the professional life of a future CPA.

What is a CPA PFS?

What is the PFS credential? The Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential is granted exclusively to CPAs with tax expertise and comprehensive knowledge of financial planning.

How many mentees can a CPA mentor have?

The profession does not require a minimum number of CPA students/candidates per CPA mentor. The maximum will be based on the CPA mentors self-assessment of what they can handle and a quality control follow-up by the profession. In the frst year, we recommend no more than three CPA students/candidates per CPA mentor.
