The first step is to scan the document using a scanner or scanner printer to create an image. This process allows us to make changes to the document and recover lost information.

You can scan a document and convert the text into a format that you can edit with a word processing program. This process is called OCR (Optical Character Recognition). To scan and use OCR, you need to use an OCR program, such as the ABBYY FineReader program that came with your scanner.
You can capture text from a scanned image, upload your image file from your computer, or take a screenshot on your desktop. Then simply right click on the image, and select Grab Text. The text from your scanned PDF can then be copied and pasted into other programs and applications.
Click the Select a file button above, or drag and drop a PDF into the drop zone. Select the PDF you want to convert to the DOCX file format. Watch Acrobat automatically convert the file from PDF to Word document. Sign in to download or share your converted document.
When you open a scanned document for editing, Acrobat automatically runs OCR (optical character recognition) in the background and converts the document into editable text and images. By default, only the current page is converted to editable text in one go.
Edit text in a scanned document Open the scanned PDF file in Acrobat. Choose Tools Edit PDF. Acrobat automatically applies OCR to your document and converts it to a fully editable copy of your PDF.
Open up Google Drive and sign in. Click on New and select File Upload from the menu to upload your image. Once uploaded, right-click on the image and select Google Docs from the Open With option. Thats it; the image will open in Google Docs with the extracted text right below the image.

Scan a document as a PDF file and edit it in Word In Word, click File Open. Browse to the location of the PDF file on your computer and click Open. A message appears, stating that Word will convert the PDF file into an editable Word document. Click OK.
