How to make a PDF editable with Acrobat. Open your PDF file in Acrobat Pro. Click the Edit PDF tool on the right-hand panel. The PDF may require a password before you can select or copy text: Choose Tools Show Inspector, click the Encryption Inspector button , then enter the password.
Sometimes you may be unable to edit a PDF file because the creator of the document turned off the editing capability for other users. You can check the permission settings of the PDF file, if it says read-only, you can only read the PDF and cant edit the file.
Click on the Edit PDF tool in the right pane. Acrobat automatically applies optical character recognition (OCR) to your document and converts it to a fully editable copy of your PDF. Click the text element you wish to edit and start typing. New text matches the look of the original fonts in your scanned image.
