laptop and Cynthia Inspiron it was telling me the battery had failed and wonamp;#39;t be able to be charged so I bought a new battery and now that says the battery canamp;#39;t be identified the system wonamp;#39;t be able to charge it 60 battery warning as I squinted delcom went to support drivers have a detect your machine okay scroll down change the category to BIOS and now just download the file and run it and it will restart your computer and then youamp;#39;ll see a black screen for a few minutes maybe several minutes that tells you itamp;#39;s flashing the BIOS so you donamp;#39;t want to interrupt that at all that that run once thatamp;#39;s done the computer will restart the computer restart it and now itamp;#39;s updating my BIOS so Iamp;#39;m just gonna let this finish this has been updated letamp;#39;s see if the computer will start without any errors and it is starting no more an identified battery and there we go so I hope this is helpful basically go to delcom

Click Start and search for command prompt or cmd. Open the Command Prompt app. To get the Service Tag, type wmic bios get serialnumber and press Enter.
Dell. A Dells serial number is called a service tag. It can be found on a sticker on the top, back, or side of your system, or underneath the battery on some laptops.
Method 3: Using the BIOS interface The Service Tag is available in the BIOS or UEFI of Dell computers. Turn on or restart the computer. At the Dell logo screen, press the F2 key several times to access the BIOS or UEFI interface. The Service Tag is available under the System Information or Overview section.
Most Dell-branded devices such as keyboard, mouse, external hard drive, speakers, do not have a Service Tag or Express Service Code. Such devices must be identified using the model number or name of the device. The label containing the device name and model number is usually located on the bottom of the device.
Steps Turn on the system. To enter the System Setup, press F2. Click Service Tag Settings. Enter the service tag. NOTE:You can enter the service tag only when the Service Tag field is empty. Ensure that you enter the correct service tag. Once the service tag is entered, it cannot be updated or changed. Click OK.
The Service Tag or Serial Number is unique to your Dell Thin Client and is required to download drivers, check the warranty status, download user guides from the Dell Support website or get customer support.
Type cmd in the Windows search bar at the bottom-left of the screen, then select Command Prompt from the list of results. In the Command Prompt window, type wmic bios get serialnumber and press Enter . The Service Tag (Serial Number) appears as shown in the image below.
On Dell laptops, the Service Tag or Express Service Code label is located on the bottom panel. Certain laptops such as the Dell XPS and Precision mobile workstations have a flap covering the label.
