TIFF, (Tagged Image File Format), is a file format commonly used for storing high-quality images, such as photographs, illustrations, and scanned documents. TIFF files are capable of preserving image quality without loss of information or degradation.
Each tag structure is 12 bytes in size and, in the sample code above, is represented by an array of structures of the data type de nition TIFTAG. (See the next section for more information on TIFF tags.) The number of tags per IFD is limited to 65,535.
Some browsers support TIFF images in tags, though they usually wont use a plug-in in this case.
A TIFF tag is a key that may appear in an Image File Directory (IFD). In the IFD each tag has some data associated with it, which may consist of zero or more values of a given data type. The combination of a tag and a value is known as an IFD Entry or TIFF Field. The TIFF Dumper plugin uses the Bio-Formats plugin to display the tags of the current image. The Debug mode option in EditOptionsMisc, when enabled, causes ImageJ to display tags when opening TIFF images. The ImageShow Info command and the getMetadata() macro function(), in v1.
A TIFF, which stands for Tag Image File Format, is a computer file used to store raster graphics and image information. A favorite among photographers, TIFFs are a handy way to store high-quality images before editing if you want to avoid lossy file formats.
TIFF files declare and describe their content by means of tags in the header and in Image File Directories (IFDs) within the file. Tags can indicate the basic geometry of the image, define how the image data is arranged, and indicate such facts as whether one or another image compression option has been used.
