Smart Compose in Google Docs, Slides, Sheets Drawings Open a file. At the top, click Tools. Preferences. To turn Smart Compose on or off, click Show Smart Compose suggestions. Click Ok.
Reviewing changes You can also see changes suggested by other people. If you have a question about a particular change, you can leave a comment in the suggestion box. Click the suggestion box, click the text field, write a response, and click Reply. To approve a change, click the checkmark.
As you type, suggestions will appear as lighter gray text. Press either the tab key or the right arrow key to accept the suggestion. The suggested text will then become part of your document, and you can continue typing. If Smart Compose makes a suggestion that you dont like, just ignore it and keep typing.
To get out of suggestion mode, underneath the Share button, change Suggesting to Editing.
Tracking changes in Google Docs While in Suggestion mode, any text that you add is highlighted and any text you delete is crossed out. To the right, a suggestion box appears with every change. This gives other users a chance to review changes before theyre made permanent.
Hold down Ctrl+Shift+Alt (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Option (macOS), and you can then tap Z to switch to editing, X to switch to suggesting, and C to switch to viewing in the doc.
Accept or reject a suggestion Press the tab key. Press the right-arrow key. For Android or iOS: Swipe right over the suggested text.
Suggest changes to a file On your computer, open a document at Google Docs. Select the text you want to change. A button appears on the right margin. Edit the document. Youll see your change in a new color. The owner of the file will get an email about your suggestions and can decide whether to keep them.
