Spot Instance Request The one-time or persistent request type determines whether the request is reopened when EC2 interrupts a Spot instance or when you stop a Spot instance. If the request is persistent, the request is opened again after your Spot Instance is interrupted.
Spot Instances offer up to 90% discount but carry the risk of interruption. On the other hand, Reserved Instances offer up to 72% decreased rates with high availability, but long commitment periods. In this article, we look the differences between Spot Instances vs. Reserved Instances and when you should use each.
Amazon EC2 Spot Instances let you take advantage of unused EC2 capacity in the AWS cloud and are available at up to a 90% discount compared to On-Demand prices.
The key difference between spot instances and on-demand instances is the pricing model and their availability. On-demand instances have a fixed price and are always available, while spot instances operate on a bidding system and are not guaranteed to be available.
