hi everyone and welcome to todays Quick Fix were talking all about rounded objects how to draw a rounded object on a flat page where were going to use a flower pot as our example today so Ive got a a baseline here a straight line across the page and Im going to show you first if I was drawing a flower pot um I would start off with two sort of tapering in sides like that but this is where the choice comes so Im going to draw a second one so we can look at the two opposite each other okay so I guess if youre drawing something really flat and cartoonish youd keep the top and bottom line flat like that and its quite clearly a sort of very cartoonish drawn vessel but its certainly not anything remotely lifelike however if you instead of a straight line go for a curve and then a mirrored curve on the top but also oh its a bit of a wobbly one bit of a wonky one also continue that sort of curved shape there youre getting a more 3D rounded shape so we can do away with this now so t

Model Space is where you create and modify your drawings. When you select a Layout tab you enter PAPER SPACE. The primary function of Paper Space is to prepare the drawing for plotting.
Open the Options window by typing OPTIONS on the command line or clicking the Options button under the AutoCAD application menu at the top-left, click the Display tab, and then under the Layout elements section, enable the checkbox Display Layout and Model tabs and then click OK.
When youre in paper space, you can double-click within a layout viewport to access model space. If you are in model space and want to switch to another layout viewport, double-click within another layout viewport, or press Ctrl+R to cycle through the existing layout viewports.
So the whole idea is, with model space and paper space, is youve got two spaces to work in in AutoCAD. Model space, you do all your designing full-size to the units you want to use. Paper space, or the layout tab, is where you start communicating your design intent by creating these scaled view ports.
In the layout viewports, you scale the model space views relative to paper space. One unit in paper space represents the actual distance on a sheet of paper, either in millimeters or inches, depending on how you configure your page setup.
To Set the Dimension Scale for Model Space Dimensions in Layouts Click Home tab Annotation panel Dimension Style. In the Dimension Style Manager, select the style you want to change. In Modify Dimension Style dialog box, Fit tab, under Scale for Dimension Features, select Scale Dimension to Layout (Paper space).
AutoCADs paper space mode is a bit like having a page in a scrapbook onto which you can paste different views of your AutoCAD drawing. This whole page can then be plotted. This exercise is designed to help you create an A3 drawing sheet in Paper Space and to add floating viewports.
Paper Space allows you to scale your drawing, which means you can fit several views and drawings on a layout, without altering the drawing or 3D model. This makes it ideal for printing.
Solution: Enter the ZOOM command. Type E and press enter or select the Extents option in the command bar.
