An AMI includes the following: One or more Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) snapshots, or, for instance-store-backed AMIs, a template for the root volume of the instance (for example, an operating system, an application server, and applications).
Area Median Income, also known as “A-M-I” or sometimes referenced as Median Family Income (MFI), is the household income for the median/'middle' household in a given region. Thus, if you were to line up each household from poorest to wealthiest, the household in the very middle would be considered the median.
Below I have logged in and am on the windows ec2 machine and have clicked on storage tab to find the volume I wish to increase. Click on the storage volume link and it will take you to the storage section on the console. Right click and choose Modify Volume.
If the EC2 instance you want to change has an EBS (Elastic Block Store) root partition, you can simply change or 'resize' the instance.
AMI is divided into two categories: EBS - backed Instances. Instance Store - backed Instances.
An AMI owner can determine their instance availability through the following three launch permissions: Public, that grants instance launch permission to all AWS account holders. Explicit, that grants launch permission only to specific AWS accounts. Implicit, where only the AMI owner has permission to launch an instance.
Create your own AMI You can launch an instance from an existing AMI, customize the instance (for example, software on the instance), and then save this updated configuration as a custom AMI. Instances launched from this new custom AMI include the customizations that you made when you created the AMI.
AMIs provide a template for the root volume required to launch a particular instance. This will typically include the operating systems, an application server and applications. Also included in the AMI are launch permissions that restrict the ability to launch instances from that AMI to defined AWS accounts.
To launch a new EC2 instance from an AMI, do the following: Open the EC2 console. ... From the navigation bar, choose AMIs. Find the AMI that you want to use to launch a new instance. ... Select the AMI, and then choose Launch. Choose an instance type, and then choose Next: Configure Instance Details. ... Select Next: Add Storage.
An AMI consists of the following: This includes the operating system, an application server, and applications. Launch permissions that control which AWS accounts can use the AMI to launch instances. A block device mapping that specifies the volumes to attach to the instance when it's launched.
