Whether its a person, an object, or a pet, portrait mode can help draw attention to the subject by blurring the background. However, for landscapes or wide-angle shots where you want everything in focus, the regular camera mode would be more suitable.
A portrait is the likeness or representation of someone whether through sculpture, painting, photograph or other artistic media. A picture is a photograph. If a portrait sounds like it has more depth than a picture, its because it usually does have more depth and tends to offer a story better than a picture does.

Portrait mode is a feature in quite a few smartphones that helps you take better pictures of people by capturing a sharp face and a nicely blurred background. Its specifically made to improve close-up photos of one person hence the name portrait (though you can use it for objects).
Apply the portrait effect to photos taken in Photo mode Open the Photos app on your iPhone. Tap any photo taken in Photo mode to view it in full screen, then tap Edit. , then tap Portrait at the top of the screen. Use the Depth Control slider to increase or decrease the level of background blur in the portrait.
Use Portrait mode on your iPhone Open the Camera app and swipe to Portrait mode. Follow the tips on your screen. When Portrait mode is ready, the name of the lighting effect, such as Natural Light, turns yellow. Tap the Shutter button .
Portrait Mode photos are usually twice as large as usual as they do store both the normal photograph, the photograph with blurred background/bokeh and the depth map (low resolution).
With Camera on models that support Portrait mode, you can apply a depth-of-field effect that keeps your subjectpeople, pets, objects, and moresharp while creating a beautifully blurred foreground and background. You can also apply and adjust different lighting effects to your portraits.
