Lets first start by answering the question, what is log? It is short for logarithmic footage. Its when your camera shoots in the flat profile to preserve the most amount of detail and dynamic range. So now lets look at the log image with scopes.
Shooting log video means you can record an image with more dynamic range from your camera. It also gives you more scope for color correction and color grading in post-production.
Put simply, the wider the color gamut, the more color information can be recorded and the more vibrant and realistic your images will look. S-Log captures far more information than standard REC. 709 footage can record, giving you more control over the finished image in post-production.
A log profile, or logarithmic profile, is a shooting profile, or gamma curve, found on some digital video cameras that gives a wide dynamic and tonal range, allowing more latitude to apply colour and style choices.
LOG is a specific video format processed in the camera, unlike RAW, which is totally unprocessed. LOG footage can be viewed on an external monitor without conversion. And, because its a video format, certain components such as white balance and exposure are made part of the video.

The important thing to know is that shooting in log offers you a high dynamic range, which allows greater flexibility in color grading. Unlike raw footage, however, log footage is video, and will come with a white balance and iso baked in.
Shooting in LOG offers a much broader dynamic range and color depth compared to compressed video formats. While compressed formats are smaller in file size and easier to handle, they lose docHub image detail and color information during the compression process.
