It works the same way as it does in a knitting patternit just means to keep doing what youve been doing. So when it says to Work even in sc (single crochet), it just means that you will simple work a single crochet stitch over and over as you build up the sides of the bag (or the fabric of your project).
Each row of the stitch pattern will begin and end as written. But when you knit a sweater, hat, or other project where you must increase or decrease stitches, youll run into the term keeping to pattern. Because you have added or subtracted stitches, each row will no longer begin and end as written.
In a knitting or crochet pattern, work even simply means keep doing whatever youve been doing without increasing or decreasing.
A recurring pattern refers to a consistent and repeated occurrence or trend that can be observed over time.
When the phrase Work even appears after a series of increases or decreases, it means to stop increasing or decreasing for shaping and simply work in your pattern stitch (in the case of Cameron, thats stockinette stitch with the stripe sequence) until the piece measures the specified length.
This means to work the instructions exactly as previously stated, carefully keeping track of your stitches and rows, and using stitch markers if necessary. It is helpful to keep a notepad handy to mark down the repeats and rows as they are completed.
salmonmac August 23, 2016, 2:51pm #2. Since this is a sleeve, you may have been periodically increasing at the sides after knitting the cuff. Continue even means with no shaping, so no increases or decreases, just continue in stockinette.
Work in Pattern Whether youve been increasing or decreasing, when you begin to work even, continue working in whatever pattern you were doing during the shaping. If you were knitting stockinette stitch, continue knitting stockinette stitch. If you were working double crochet, continue working double crochet.
