in this video weamp;#39;ll see how passwords are really cracked passwords are not saved as plain texts any website of this age on the internet uses a hashing algorithm to encrypt and manage passwords there are many types of hashing algorithms like the sha-1 md5 etc as an example for this video letamp;#39;s consider Facebook in order to log into your Facebook account you enter your email and password and click on log in the first time you create a Facebook account you are asked to fill in a form like this which contains your name your email address and it asks you to choose a password your birth date and your gender once you click on sign up this data is sent to the Facebookamp;#39;s back-end database in the Facebookamp;#39;s database your name your gender your age and your email or phone is saved as it is but what about the password as I told you a password will never be saved as a plain text in a websiteamp;#39;s database so this password is given as input to a hashing algorithm

Choosing a slow algorithm is actually preferred for password hashing. Of the hashing schemes provided, only PBKDF2 and Bcrypt are designed to be slow which makes them the best choice for password hashing, MD5 and SHA-256 were designed to be fast and as such this makes them a less than ideal choice.
Binary code is the most basic form of computer code, consisting of two numbers: 0 and 1. These numbers form the basic layer of all computing systems and are the primary language of digital technologies. Binary code uses combinations of these two numbers to represent numbers, letters, or other types of information.
A password vault, password manager or password locker is a program that stores usernames and passwords for multiple applications securely, and in an encrypted format. Users can access the vault via a single master password. The vault then provides the password for the account they need to access.
A work factor increases the number of iterations that bcrypt runs through by powers of two. For example, a work factor of 10 means 2**10 iterations. Choosing a work factor depends on your threat model: too cheap and your passwords can be brute forced, too expensive and it can put unnecessary load on the system.
Through the use of techniques such as salting, adjustable work factors, and memory hardness, modern password hashing algorithms are designed to prevent attacks like rainbow tables and data bdocHubes. Password hashing involves using a hash function to combine a password with a unique value called a salt.
Salt means adding a string of random characters to a password. This adds a layer of security that is unpredictable and is used in combination with hashing to make it impossible for hackers to guess credentials.
The work factor is the number of iterations of the hashing algorithm that are performed for each password (usually, its actually 2^work iterations). The work factor is typically stored in the hash output.
