Add page numbers to a header or footer in Word Double-click in the header or footer where you want the page numbers to go. Go to Insert Page Numbering. Select Current Position. Choose a style.
This type of page break is known as a hard page. The new page that WordPerfect creates for you is called a soft page. To insert a hard page break, press Ctrl+Enter. In Page view mode, you will see a gray space between the two pages (see Figure 8.1).
Choose Format Page Numbering. In the Page Numbering Format list box, select a format, and then choose OK to insert the page number. Tip: A page x of y page number tells you the number of the current page (x) and the total number of pages in the document (y).
Go to Insert Page Numbers. Select a position (left, center, or right, and header or footer). Select Include Page Count to show total number of pages too, such as page 7 of 9.
Choose a numbering format from the Number type list box. If you want to specify that numbers update automatically if a paragraph is added or deleted, enable the Automatic check box. You can also number a paragraph in a document by pressing Ctrl + Shift + F5.
Click the Print Settings tab. Under Headers and Footers, click Header or Footer. In the Insert AutoText box, do one of the following: To print the current page number in the header or footer, click Current Page.
To adjust page numbering: Insert Page Number Format Page Numbers. Make sure Start at is set to 1. To make page numbers continuous: Format Page Numbers and choose Continue from previous section.
On the Insert tab, click the Page Number icon, and then click Page Number. 2. Select a location, and then pick an alignment style. Word automatically numbers every page, except designated title pages.
