Hi everyone, Kevin here today, weamp;#39;re going to learn how to add page numbers in Microsoft Word, starting from any page in your document. It turns out itamp;#39;s a little bit complicated. Letamp;#39;s find out how to do this. Here I am in Microsoft Word, and I would like to include page numbers on this document. Of course, I donamp;#39;t want to include a page number on the cover page because that would be silly. To insert page numbers, first off, letamp;#39;s go to the top tabs and click on the one titled insert, and right here in the center, thereamp;#39;s a category for header and footer. Letamp;#39;s click on this drop-down for page number, and here you can choose the location of your page numbers. Iamp;#39;ll go with the bottom of the page and letamp;#39;s put it over on the right-hand side. Here, I now have page numbers in my document, but here we see that I have a page number on my cover page and I donamp;#39;t want a page number there.

One common cause is section breaks in the document, which can create separate numbering systems. Another reason could be the use of different header and footer settings on specific pages. Additionally, if there are hidden or deleted pages, it can disrupt the page numbering.
On the Insert tab, click the Page Number icon, and then click Page Number. 2. Select a location, and then pick an alignment style. Word automatically numbers every page, except designated title pages.
MS Word page numbers not continuous (i.e. non-sequential) Issue Sometimes, the page numbers will go along just fine for the part of the document, and then will suddenly restart at 1 (or perhaps even at 0!). Cause The most likely reason for this situation is the presence of a section break.
Changing the numbering sequence in a list can cause headaches, but use the following steps and youll avoid hassles later: Double-click the numbers in the list. Right-click the number you want to change. Click Set Numbering Value. In the Set value to: box, use the arrows to change the value to the number you want.
What to Know To reset page numbers: Insert Page Number Remove Page Numbers. Do this for each section. To adjust page numbering: Insert Page Number Format Page Numbers. Make sure Start at is set to 1. To make page numbers continuous: Format Page Numbers and choose Continue from previous section.
To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
Go to Insert Page Numbers. Select a position (left, center, or right, and header or footer). Select Include Page Count to show total number of pages too, such as page 7 of 9.
Answer Click on the Insert tab. Click on Page Number in the Header Footer group. Choose the location of page number (usually top of page). The header will open and the page number is inserted. Your name and subsequent page numbers will now appear on all pages of your document.
