Good morning. Bobby, please remind me, what is our current equation for work, the one from AP Physics 1? ♪ Flipping Physics ♪ Work equals F d cosine theta, where F is the force doing the work, d is the displacement of the object, and is the angle between those two vectors. Remember we use the magnitudes of force and displacement in the work equation. (And Bo, what are the units for work?) Newtons times meters or joules. Great. Thanks. Now, it is very important you realize this equation is for the work done by a constant force. We will discuss work done by a non-constant force at a later date, but not today. So, you can look forward to that. Yea! Yea? Yea. Now that we are doing calculus-based physics, we have the r-position vector which identifies the position of an object in 3 dimensions using unit vectors. Therefore we can define the work done by a constant force as work equals force times change in r-position of the object times the cosine of the angle b

This technique is best used for annotating articles or textbooks rather than constructing new material. It is an efficient way to increase comprehension while not slowing down your reading momentum. To take notes as you read, put a dot next to each main idea and a dash next to each item that supports that main idea.
The purpose of a dot in rhythmic notation is to increase the time value of a note by half. Consequently a two-beat half-note would be lengthened into a (2+1=) three-beat dotted-half-note. The dot is always placed to the right of the note head.
A dotted note is a musical notation that indicates a note should be played for a longer duration compared to its regular counterpart. This extension of length is achieved by adding a dot immediately after the note head. The dot adds half of the original notes value to its duration.
Likewise, a dot placed next to a whole note would increase its rhythmic duration from four beats to six beats. We know that a whole note sounds for 4 equal beats. a dotted whole note would then sound for six beats.
Dotted Notes When a dot follows a note it adds half of the note value. For example if you have a dotted half note it would be worth the same as a half note plus a quarter note. If we are in common time, and a half note equals two beats a dotted half note would be worth three beats (2 + 1).
Musical Notation: For example, a dot placed to the right of a note increases its length, while a dot placed above or below the note changes its articulation.
A dot above or below a note tells you to play it short and detached.
