A Margin is a white or blank space between the main content and the top, bottom, and edges of the page. During the printing process adding a margin keeps important elements from being cutoff during bulk trimming or looking uneven.

Look in the technical specifications section for information on the top/bottom and left/right margins. Another easy way to find the margins is to use Microsoft Word. Change your default printer to be the printer for which you want to identify the margins. Click the Margins button and then click the Custom Margins
The standard print margin for wide format printing is usually 0.25 to 0.5 inches on all sides of the print.
Make your margins the right size and your documents will print perfectly. Many modern printers can print with margins less than 3 mm, so 1 cm as a general rule should be sufficient. However, if it is a high profile job, get the specs of the printer you will be printing with and ensure that your margins are adequate.
XPS stands for XML Paper Specification. Thats because it contains page layout information written in the XML page description language. Essentially, this type of language describes the structure and content of a document, including its layout and appearance, making it suited for printing for example.
