hi Iamp;#39;m Dr Mark vanstone and I want to demonstrate a little bit about how the Maya wrote their hieroglyphs Iamp;#39;ll be using modern tools the handy pigma Micron pen which is a great little uh tool for drafting uh itamp;#39;s very precise the Maya tools were just as precise but uh theyamp;#39;re a little harder to control and uh for for my purposes I use these the my would have used a quill pen made of an bird feather or an animal hair brush and they would have um probably used different sizes of pens for different sizes of Strokes with a brush you can actually make a heavy Stroke by pressing harder and a lighter Stroke by by lighter touch but itamp;#39;s um itamp;#39;s quite a skill to develop and I find it simpler to use these so I will demonstrate by writing the name of my esteemed filmmaker Michael geesi in Maya phonetic glyphs ma la k ya right now Iamp;#39;m drawing the syllable T which means to and uh this glyph that Iamp;#39;m drawing right here is the sk
