Under XML 1.0, an ID is a unique identifier to aid in processing. You can annotate an element uniquely with an attribute of type ID, as in id=i-35867 (IDs cant start with a number), which often assumes an associated DTD containing the attribute-list declaration .
The type xsd:ID is used for an attribute that uniquely identifies an element in an XML document. An xsd:ID value must be an NCName . This means that it must start with a letter or underscore, and can only contain letters, digits, underscores, hyphens, and periods.
The custom field ID is used to link the custom field value to the custom field definition. The custom field ID is stored in the FieldID element in the XML representing both the custom field definition and the custom field value. The custom field value is stored inside the Value element.
repository ElementTypeDescription id String A unique identifier for a repository. name String Human readable name of the repository. url String The url of the repository. layout String The type of layout this repository uses for locating and storing artifacts - can be legacy or default. Adding XML ids to your document manually Add an XML id within the p tags in your document. To do this insert your cursor between the p text and the right angle bracket and add an xml:id= attribute. Assign values to your XML ids. Finish adding XML ids to all of your p tags.
So id is basically used to connect the input with a label. in your example will automatically connect to an input with the same id, it is also used to style the input. name is used in data storing or when submitting a data to a database, and value is anything the user types into the input.
